John W. Masotti is a Co-Founder of MM Blockchain Advisory, LLC and the managing partner of Masotti & Masotti, LLC, a multi-generational CPA firm founded in 1960.
John graduated in 1997 from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor in Science Degree from the School of Business with a major in accounting. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in both the states of Connecticut and New York. He is also a Certified Managerial Accountant.
John has been actively involved in cryptocurrency / blockchain research since mid-2016. He was first introduced to bitcoin in 2013 by a very wise client. However, he never pursued researching further because the entire concept was beyond his grasp at the time. In mid-2016, he was approached by a cryptocurrency / blockchain enthusiast and the entire concept was laid out for him in a thoughtful manner and from that point on, he became obsessed with the technology and the profound impact it will have on the accounting profession and the world.
In John’s accounting practice, he has extensive experience in tax planning and the preparation of business and individual income tax returns. He represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service, Connecticut Department of Revenue Services, Connecticut Department of Labor, and New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. He is continuously working with his CPA firm’s strategic partner, Select Family Office, rendering tax planning and tax compliance services for their common clients, which are ultra-high net worth individuals. Since John is a licensed CPA and CMA, this makes him uniquely qualified when he regularly consults with his firm’s business clients on various tax and managerial accounting issues.
John is on the Board of Directors of two private charitable foundations that he founded. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Yale School of Medicine Eye Center. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Institute of Managerial Accountants. He is a Certified Blockchain Expert, which is a certification offered by the Blockchain Council, of which he is also a member. He is also a Certified Bitcoin Professional, which is a certification offered by the Cryptocurrency Certification Consortium.
